Prabal Gurung for J.Crew

I arrived  in London a few days ago and discovered on the flight over, while skimming through the glossy pages of one of the many fashion magazine I bought to distract myself, that Prabal Gurung has done a small collaboration with J.Crew.
I have been dying for his tuxedo pants with ribbon detail at the ankle for ages, ever since his spring 2010 collection actually. Sadly, the $1000+ price tag was slightly out of my budget to say the least.
Which is why I was ecstatic when I came upon a pair of these amazing pantaloons while browsing the collection!

Here is the Fit-to-be-tied pant
Great design for the modest price of $198!
Unfortunately they do not come in the gorgeous electric blue featured in Prabal's original design, but I will still make sure that trying on these trousers will be one of my top priorities when I get back to New York :)

To view the rest of the collection, visit J.Crew's website, it includes other amazing pieces featuring "exploding bows"!

Below is the original design I absolutely loooved

Update: They are already out of stock!!! :(

Chanel Resort 2012

Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his resort collection for Chanel yesterday in the Cap d'Antibes.
Just in time for the Cannes Film Festival, the collection embodied the nonchalant chic so representative of summers on the Cote d'Azur.
Guests sipped champagne at parasoled tables while the models strolled along the runway in floaty frocks and slender suits.
Here are some of my favourites

Natasha Poly strutted down the runway in a one piece black bathing suit and short white ornate jacket, complemented by vintage inspired sunglasses and an adorable silver boater hat.
This is a look I will definitely be adopting on the beach this summer
I really loved how Karl re-imagined the boater hat for this collection.

I was taken aback yet very much enamoured with this jewelled turban on Baptiste.

This piece, I loved for its lightness and simplicity. The bead work is exquisite. Bianca Balti looked like a fairy.
And speaking of fairies, the presentation was succeeded with the premiere of Lagerfeld's new film "The Tale of a Fairy" featuring Freja Beha.
I am DYING to see the thirty minute flick, unfortunately I have not yet found it:(

Photographs of Southern Africa

My philanthropic father went to Botswana and South Africa a couple years ago with Habitats for Humanity and I just stumbled upon these amazing photos he took on his trip.

This last picture is of the village chief where Habitats was building houses.
He is 80 years old and his name is Hungry Lion.
Such a stylish old man with his well worn bicycle and wide-brimmed panama.

P.S: Habitats for Humanity is an amazing organization, so if you ever have the chance sign up or donate to help build houses for families in need.

One of my very stylish guy friends in London got me obsessed with men's shoes.
We used to go to vintage shops and find the most amazing pieces.
So, ever since I moved to Manhattan, I am always on the lookout for interesting leather goodies on the street. Sadly, I am still camera-less so I haven't been able to capture any dapper new yorkers.
However I happened to stumble upon one of my latest fancies on Mr.Porter (another one of my obsessions):
Monk-Strap Shoes!

The Met Ball 2011

It is that time of year again where celebrities and designers alike unite for what is aptly considered the Oscars of fashion.
Though the Costume Institute Gala gave all of us a chance to bestow our eyes on some of the most beautiful designs of the season, I thought I would share some of my favourites.

This nude Donna Karan dress worn by Ashley Greene was one of my favourites mostly due to that gorgeous fishtail hem.

This past year Prabal Gurung has become one of the designers I admire the most and I must say that he did not disappoint.

Riccardo Tisci is another incredible talent. I think I could sell my soul for this Givenchy Haute Couture piece. The white and yellow ombre is beautiful and the feather work on this dress is prodigious.

Tommy Hilfiger is not usually a name I associate with 'Haute Couture' or 'Gala', but I very much enjoyed this dress. Jessica Stam looked very much Pretty in Pink. I have a great affinity for Tulle and those visible layers behind her ribboned sandals made me gasp with delight.

I thought I would end this post with a well dressed male. It is so rare do see straight men take chances with evening wear, I found it necessary to compliment Orlando Bloom with his fabulous polka dotted lapel.
